The Troup County Marshal’s Department is responsible for serving the citizens of Troup County through meeting the public’s needs and expectations by enforcing Federal Laws, State Laws, and Local Ordinances. Through the creation of the Marshal’s Office by the Troup County Board of Commissioners in 1990, the department maintains three divisions: Service, Courts Services, and Animal Control. The Marshal’s Department works to provide effective security of the Magistrate Court and Judiciary Court System, Court personnel and visitors in the court. They also work to cooperate with other departments within Troup County and other Local, State and National agencies. The department’s sworn personnel are recognized as Law Enforcement Officers by the Georgia Peace Officers Standard and Training Council, and they must meet all required standards.
The mission of the Marshal Department is to promote the integrity of the Troup County Court System and its personnel, to act as an effective unit of Troup County Government, and to train its members to always remain vigilant in order to help keep our citizens safe. The Marshal’s Department will strive to stay up-to-date on current laws, progressive technology, laws, educational standards to cultivate as an central unit within both local and state law enforcement agencies. The department will also attempt to enhance the experience of civil service processes to those who utilize Marshal services.
